As of 9th of May 2022, two houses have most of the insulation works done, one is missing a roof construction. We are still waiting for the wood for supporting rails for the roof – there has been an exceptional delay of two weeks and it may only arrive next week. Roof tiles arrived already.
In March 2022, proper building works of the retreat huts have started. In winter, however, a parking space was created, more drainage work done and finally the well drilled. Also an official project of the house was done and the building works registered in a building register.
As of 15 of April 2022, one house is up and waterproof. (next works: walls: insulation and clapboarding, roof: a stone roof; windows and doors). For two houses, we have used thick plywood as a wind barrier board (one seen on the photo). Usually it is an expensive material but we obtained a quantity of them as a factory leftover with a very affordable price (there can be some darker spots or very tiny defects which does not influence the building quality).
Parts (floor, walls and rafters) of the second house are laying down and need to be put together (we have to wait for a soil to be a little bit drier because the telehandler cannot lift the pieces up when it is too wet on that location).
For the third house, the floor is done.
Works for Khenpo Karma Wangyel’s house have started as well. This house is necessary for the teachers who come here to teach the retreatants (Khenpo Karma Wangyel as well as Gangteng Rinpoche). The house is located outside of the enclosure of the three-year retreat. This house is entirely made with Khenpo Karma Wangyel’s personal money up to now (buying of the building materials for more than 2000 euros, soon, post foundation works will continue).

Yesterday, Khenpo Karma Wangyel arrived to Umbusi village to see the land of the retreat center and make new plans. This summer, due to lack of money, there was no big progress in works, we have only done some maintenance works (cutting the bushes and grass on the area), and road smoothening works as in some places a layer of gravel had to be added (there was lot of difficulties with the road construction and the final constructor had to repair the mistakes which were done by the first constructor who actually could not manage to do it).
Khenpo Karma Wangyel would be really happy if there some more people in Europe who could understand the value of staying in retreat and or support this kind of project. Of course he really appreciates the help and support of those few people who have made this project their personal business.
As of October 2021, we have got one more donation that we could start the building of the first house but for the whole of the project it would be better if we could finish the construction of the first houses. Khenpo Karma Wangyel would be very happy if this could happen very soon.

In the beginning of March 2021, after lot of unforeseen difficulties, the road to Yeshe Khorlo three-year retreat site was completed.
In the beginning we had lot of challenges, as we had to change the company (because soon in the beginning it came out that the first company did not use a proper technology to construct a road in a place which was more wet than usual), but then finally found a constructor who used a much better techology to construct this kind of road – therefore instead of stripping the onsoil and filling it with a huge amount of stones and gravel), the new company who was an expert in construction of wet forest roads, heaped the earth and higher than the rest of the ground, covered it with geotextile and a usual layer of gravel was spread on top of it. The road has ditches on both sides (more than half of the length) to be sure that the water is led away. Already 45 tons vehicles were driving it (with gravel). Only some more finishing works are still to be done.
